As summers comes to an end—sigh, (I am convinced time speeds up as we age), it’s still the perfect time to take a look back on the issues that resonated most with our readers. Which articles did you, the readers of Canadian Family Offices, enjoy on our site?
Here are the most-read articles from the summer, July through August, 2026.
Happy reading!

Billionaires’ Row: Twenty of Canada’s wealthiest individuals and families
AI and crypto vault some ‘new money’ into the ranks of Canada’s wealthiest
This list, curated by Kathy Kerr, is the top performer of the summer. It looks at Canada’s wealthiest individuals and families, and includes the expected business and industrial titans, from Thomsons to Irvings, Westons to Bouchards. However, some less familiar names have vaulted up the fortune rankings, driven by artificial intelligence and cryptocurrency stock valuations that have reached stratospheric heights.

Canada’s wealthiest neighbourhoods: a snapshot
Canada’s wealthiest neighbourhoods come with more than eye-watering price tags. They also come with history, ambition and legacy baked right in.
The article, written by Cindy McGlynn, looks across the country for the crème de la crème neighbourhoods. It takes the reader from the sprawling estates of Toronto’s Bridle Path and Montreal’s storied Westmount to charming Shaughnessy in Vancouver and Ottawa’s Rockcliffe Park—there are a few surprises on the list and of course the old classics remain.

Wealth migration is accelerating. Here’s where the rich are moving.
From Costa Rica and Panama to Singapore and New Zealand, these 10 countries are prime destinations for ultra-wealthy migrants
Wealthy families are chasing favourable tax regimes, residency-by-investment programs, and sanctuaries from future political policy changes as they search for new places to live or have a second home. The article, also written by Kathy Kerr, explores where they are moving—trending destinations include widely diverse locations, including Portugal, Singapore, New Zealand and the Cayman Islands, but the U.S. remains the biggest magnet for the rich and billionaire class.

“Squandered” puts the spotlight on the risks and pitfalls of family succession
A new book by the team at Foster Family Office explores the strategies successful families can employ to avoid the third-generation curse of squandered wealth
This article, also written by Kathy Kerr, was a hit this summer. It’s based on the ‘third-generation curse’, a concept that spans cultures and centuries, and is familiar to those in the family office space. The book highlights fictionalized case studies of all-too-real challenges: businesses and family legacies brought low by poorly executed or non-existent succession plans, untimely deaths, sibling squabbles, and a lack of preparedness to manage either wealth or the family business. The article is an interesting Q & A with Foster Family Office’s portfolio manager and chief executive officer, Christopher Foster, and portfolio manager Victor Todorovski.

Weathering future storms: Highlights from Canso’s July 2026 Market Observer
‘Investors should take a hard look at their portfolios to ensure they have the flexibility and capacity to take advantage of a sell-off fuelled by a wholesale deleveraging’
Canso’s quarterly commentary has a loyal reader base and in terms of content—it doesn’t disappoint. This summer’s Market Observer looks at the incoming Fed Chair, Kevin Warsh, and the passing of Alan Greenspan, who served as the Fed Chair for nearly two decades. The quarterly also look at the Canadian housing market decline—they point out that while volatility continues in housing, much of the rates and credit markets have finished the first half of the year largely unchanged.

Video: Thane Stenner of Stenner Wealth Partners+ and CFO managing editor Joe Chidley discuss moving up the wealth curve
‘Historically, people think you get more money and life’s easier. The reality is there’s different types of complexities that come with it’
This summer we featured the Summer Wealth Report, presented by Stenner Wealth Partners+, and it was a huge success. We featured one video between Canadian Family Offices‘ managing editor Joe Chidley and Thane Stenner, founder of Stenner Wealth Partners+ at CG Wealth Management, they discussed the complexities families experience as they move up the wealth curve. They also discussed how entrepreneurs must shift from growing wealth inside a business to managing liquid wealth after a major exit and why ultra-high-net-worth families often need to rely on a broader team of professional advisors.
