Cancer survivor Patrick Keeley brings holistic health to forefront at Seven Hills

Diagnosis forced him to confront an often-ignored truth in the financial industry: Wealth means little without health

When Patrick Keeley found himself facing the hardest moment of his life—a cancer diagnosis—he made a vow: If he survived, he would dedicate his life to helping others live longer, healthier and more fulfilling lives.

Today, as president and CEO of Seven Hills Capital Corp. in Toronto, Keeley is redefining the very concept of wealth to encompass not just financial success but the holistic richness of life itself.

Keeley’s story is one of resilience, vision and reinvention. A seasoned wealth manager, he built an impressive career over decades with Charles Schwab Canada, the Bank of Montreal, Royal Bank, PH&N and Gluskin Sheff.

But his diagnosis forced him to confront a truth too often ignored in the industry: Wealth means little without health.

“True wealth isn’t just about financial security—it’s about having the physical, mental and emotional capacity to live the life you want,” he says.

This realization became the foundation for his transformative leadership at Seven Hills. When Keeley acquired the 10-year-old firm in October of 2024, his mission was clear: to evolve it into a “longevity management company” that combined top-tier investment expertise with a groundbreaking focus on health and well-being.

Keeley’s vision aligns with broader trends in the industry.

A major Canadian bank recently partnered with a private health clinic, underscoring the growing recognition of the connection between wealth and health. Family offices are hiring in-house psychotherapists, and billionaires Jeff Bezos and Peter Thiel are investing in longevity research, pushing the boundaries of what’s possible.

“We’re at the forefront of a movement that’s reshaping wealth management,” Keeley says. “Clients today want more than financial advice—they want partners who can help them navigate every aspect of their lives.”

Roadmap to a richer life

At the heart of Keeley’s approach is what he calls SHIFT, which stands for social, health, intellectual, financial, and time—the five pillars that Keeley believes form the true balance sheet of life. “We’re not just managing money, we’re helping clients manage their lives,” he explains.

The journey begins with a self-assessment. Clients are asked to score themselves in each SHIFT area, a process that Keeley believes is crucial for meaningful change.

“Only clients know their truth,” he says. “Our job is to help them see it clearly, put it in front of them, and support them in making the improvements they want to make.”

From this foundation, the Seven Hills team crafts a personalized Longevity Plan for each client. These plans include actionable steps such as improving health, strengthening relationships or finding more balance in how they spend their time.

“We’re at the forefront of a movement that’s reshaping wealth management. Clients today want more than financial advice.”

Another defining feature of the SHIFT approach is the firm’s network of specialists. In addition to lawyers, estate planners and accountants, Seven Hills partners with preventative health clinics, nutritionists, life transition coaches and mental-health professionals.

“Financial capital is meaningless if you’re not prioritizing your physical, mental and spiritual health,” Keeley says. “We believe strongly in preventative care, and we’ve partnered with experts who can help clients live healthier, longer lives.”

A team with shared values

When Keeley purchased Seven Hills, he brought a team with long-standing relationships and a shared passion for creating lasting value.

“We believe in the values we practice,” he says. “Our collective experience and dedication to humility, generosity, integrity, kindness, prudence, patience and diligence form the backbone of everything we do.”

Setting a course for progress isn’t a one-time event, Keeley adds—it’s an ongoing journey. As part of their annual reviews, clients revisit their SHIFT goals to measure improvements and set new priorities.

“When clients see their lives improving—not just their portfolios but their health, relationships and overall happiness—that’s when they realize the full value of what we offer.”

Keeley says he practices what he preaches by integrating the principles of SHIFT into his own life, focusing on his physical, mental and spiritual health. His leadership style reflects this balance, he adds, fostering a culture that prioritizes well-being alongside financial results.

Redefining wealth management

Seven Hills’ shines a spotlight on longevity, but Keeley is quick to remind clients of the firm’s roots: disciplined, active investment management. “We are, first and foremost, an investment firm. Smart investment management is the foundation. It provides the financial security clients need to invest in their overall well-being.”

Another key to Seven Hills’ success is trust, Keeley adds.

“Our clients face unique challenges, from preserving multi-generational wealth to navigating family dynamics,” he says. “They want advisors who genuinely care about their well-being.”

That trust is built through demonstrating vulnerability on both sides. He encourages clients to open up about their fears and aspirations, and he meets them with the same honesty and openness.

“It’s not just about managing money—it’s about building relationships that last for decades.”
