All about alts: Take our survey, sign up for our expert panel

Our short survey on alternative investments is now live, and registration for our May 22 panel is open

From an editorial perspective, one of the great benefits of working at Canadian Family Offices is that our readers are experienced, knowledgeable and engaged—all of which makes our job of covering an often-opaque segment of the business world much easier. So, when we perceive an opportunity to tap into their collective knowledge—well, we are certainly going to try to take advantage of it.

One way we do that is through reader surveys, which we plan on rolling out with some frequency this year in alignment with our Special Reports. (Thank you to those who participated in our previous surveys, on philanthropy and multi-family offices.)

This month, our Special Report tackles the world of alternative investments and the significant role they play in many family offices. Once again, we would appreciate hearing from you. Our survey on alternatives is quite brief (just a handful of questions), it should take no more than five minutes of your time to complete, and it will help us immeasurably in improving our understanding of how family offices (and their advisors) are approaching this broad and heteregeneous asset class. Results will be published as a coda to our Special Report.

You can begin the survey by clicking here.

Another way we leverage our audience’s vast expertise is through online panel discussions. This year, we’ve hosted informative and entertaining conversations on mental health (in partnership with Healthing.ca), philanthropy and women in family offices.

Next up (not surprisingly, perhaps) is an expert panel on alternatives, featuring four very knowledgeable people in the family office ecosystem:

  • Dale Powell, Director, Investments, Citibank Private Wealth
  • Christopher Foster, CEO, Foster & Associates
  • Dan Riverso, CEO/CIO, Jesselton Capital Management
  • Robin Tessier, Partner and Head of Product & Solutions, Canada, Sagard

Moderated by Managing Editor Joe Chidley, the May 22 panel will explore the ways in which family offices are investing in alternatives, the role of alternatives in portfolios, their performance during this period of public market volatility, and strategies and best practices for mitigating risk, among other relevant topics.

Registration for the alternatives panel is complimentary for our Canadian Family Offices newsletter subscribers. If you are not already a subscriber, however, you can sign up by registering for the event here.

At Canadian Family Offices, we recognize that you are the experts. Leveraging your expertise is vital to our continuing efforts to improve our coverage and ensure its relevance in a fast-evolving ecosystem.

That is, of course, a sly way of saying that there will be more requests to participate in surveys coming down the pipe. If it all gets to be too much, or if you think we are missing the mark, or if you just want to let us know how much you love filling out surveys (it could happen!), you can contact our editors at newsroom@canadianfamilyoffices.com.
